Conflict comes in many forms and the paths toward resolution should meet those needs accordingly.

Mediation

Mediation often offers an alternative to expensive court decisions. It fosters good faith between both parties and allows for timely resolution. This can only happen when both parties feel heard and understood. Voluntary mediation between two parties provides space for both parties to face the conflict and collectively reach a solution that works for everyone.

CMM has Qualified Neutrals according to Rule 114 ready to help facilitate this outcome in the following contexts...

  • Community and court mediation
  • Housing Mediation (landlord/tenant) Our Housing Mediation Program aims to preserve housing stability and avoid the time, cost, and long-term impacts of court-filed evictions. Our Housing Mediators help resolve conflicts between tenants and landlords, prevent evictions, and resolve lease disputes. CMM Housing Mediators speak multiple languages and are skilled at mediating housing disputes.
  • Employment
  • Elders Meditation
  • Harassment
  • Family mediation (shared parenting) At CMM, we provide family mediation services to help families resolve conflicts by working with all parties to reach a mutually acceptable outcome. We help separating or divorcing families resolve issues such as custody, parenting time, property, and finances outside of court. With the help of a family mediator, you will make your own decisions and resolve family disputes creatively while reducing the emotional and economic costs of the dispute.

Facilitation

We believe in the value of community partnerships. To get there, we help facilitate conversations between community members and businesses. These are often difficult conversations that need cultural sensitivity in order to be effective. Facilitating these conversations provides education and relieves the tension that can arise without cultural sensitivity.

Mediation Center, Inc. and the Center for Multicultural Mediation (CMM) have forged a dynamic partnership rooted in mutual respect, cultural responsiveness, and a shared commitment to equitable conflict resolution.

African Youth Diversion Program

The African Youth Diversion Program provides an individualized response to youth experiencing conflicts, disputes, misunderstandings, or who are engaging in risky behaviors. For these teens, we provide an alternative to formal involvement in the Minnesota juvenile justice system. In our 2019 study, we found that of the 160 youths served, 90% have been successfully diverted. This includes an increase in school attendance, parent-youth relationships, better conflict resolution skills, and a roughly 80% decrease in illegal activities and re-offending.
